RFDS first FLYStart Partner
August 5, 2024
We are pleased to announce the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) as a participating Program Partner of our First Nations Cybersecurity Graduate Program - FLYStart.
“RFDS is proud to participate with Identifly on their Cybersecurity Graduate Program,” said Ryan Klose, RFDS Chief Information Officer.
"By offering real-world work experience and dedicated mentorship, we’re empowering the next generation of cybersecurity experts and equipping them with the skills to navigate evolving cyber challenges."
Identifly’s first participant in the program, Elektra Constantinou, works as a Junior Cyber Security Analyst at RFDS four days per week. Elektra receives real-world, on-the-job experience in an operational cybersecurity role, assisting RFDS with cyber operations including threat analysis, vulnerability assessment, and incident response.
A young Ngarla woman from the Kurrinyagupa (DeGrey River) and Junkiya (Pardoo) coastal area in Port Headland, Elektra recently graduated from The University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Science (Microbiology and Immunology).
“I am thrilled to be given an opportunity and be part of the program,” Elektra says. "Through working with RFDS, I have gained insight into how multifaceted cybersecurity is. I have had the opportunity to work with the SIEM, End Point and Identity platforms and am learning how to apply this knowledge to real-world scenarios."
For one day per week, Elektra joins her team in the Identifly office where she receives deeper technical Identity Security training and mentoring.
“The Identifly team are extremely supportive and have presented me with opportunities to challenge myself and shift my perspective in how to overcome obstacles,” Elektra says.
Jan-Marie Davies, Identifly CEO, says, "FLYStart is designed to provide graduates with a jumpstart to their cybersecurity careers by bridging the gap between academic learning and industry demands."
Appointing Elektra in the role of Junior Cyber Security Analyst emphasises Identifly’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and the empowerment of women in the tech industry.
Jan-Marie adds, “This Program acknowledges the underrepresentation of women in the cyber field and contributes to a more balanced and diverse workforce.”
